What if the LIFELINE itself becomes a reason of DEATH?

This is my question to every Mumbaikar, as we all know that death ratio in rail accidents are increasing day by day and it is our lifeline.  From past four years (2009-2012) 10,413 people died and 12,227 suffered from injuries due to rail accidents.
It is true that people die due to trace passing, performing stunts while the train is running, travelling on roof top of local trains, etc. is their foolishness but still rail government can control this ratio by taking necessary steps such as installation of unbreakable fence on railway side which will lower the risk of trace passing. Travelling on footboard is an offence but due to rush in trains during peak hours every third individual travels on foot board as he/she does not have any other option but government can work on platforms which are small in length which will help in increasing the frequency of 15 car trains and lower the ratio of death caused due to falling from running train. They should also remove steps which are there behind those bogies having pantograph as this is the only option for passenger to get on rooftop.
On the other side I can say that everyone of us should note that only blaming the government is not the only way. We are the one who are responsible of our own lives, so don’t run from your responsibility and be responsible for consequences of action you perform.

  3. This is something that we can east do about, with the ever increasing population in Mumbai, i feel its not possible to keep a tap on such issues. Your suggestions like increasing the length of the platform and thereby increase 15 car trains is a workable solution!

  4. But its simple if we want solution, we have to pay for it we if want 15 car local train they will simply hike the railway price

  5. Yes, i to support your views but its not necessary to built a roof or something like that. The important factor is that no one can stop the increasing population in MUMBAI.

  6. Safety is something which an individual should feel to have from inside... but it should not be some kind of hope which the government provides.
